Seniors Deirdre O’Toole ’24 and Chris Dalton ’24 are making an impact here at Molloy and around Queens and Brooklyn through the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA). Deirdre and Chris represent Molloy in the CHSAA’s Captains Club, a league-wide group with members from each Catholic high school in Queens and Brooklyn. Club members attend meetings to discuss league policies and make recommendations to help keep the Catholic in the CHSAA. Deirdre is part of the club’s media relations team, while Chris has been working with peers at other schools to draft a formal mission statement for the Captains Club.
Earlier this school year, Deirdre and Chris launched two initiatives that would be celebrated by the CHSAA. First, they introduced a document called Code of Conduct, which outlines standards of fair play, sportsmanship, and respectful competition. Their second initiative was creating a prayer that teams can use prior to games. The Code of Conduct and pre-game prayer were designed as posters and can be printed and hung in gymnasiums around the league. More recently, Deirdre and Chris attended a luncheon sponsored by the CHSAA to honor their contributions and receive some insight from guest speakers and league officials.
At Molloy, Deirdre and Chris are part of the Sports Management Club, which has made great strides in improving Molloy’s ability to promote and report on all its athletic teams. Club members create promotional flyers and graphics (including the bowling image in the preceding story), write game recaps and athlete spotlights, provide photography and video at games, and contribute frequent content to the wonderful @molloyhs_athletics Instagram account. Deirdre and Chris are leaders in the club and do a great job working with their classmates to get all the exciting sports news out to the public.
Congratulations Deirdre and Chris and keep up the good work!
